Creating Your Outdoor Living Dream
In the beginning, an outdoor living space is just a dream – a creation of your imagination. We will work together to bring your dream into existence! We start by making sure the dream fits into reality and is it realistic. Answer these questions:
1. What do I cook on outdoors now and in the past?
2. How often do I cook outdoors now?
3. How often do I entertain outdoors and how many people?
4. How may the answers to number 2 & 3 change when my dream comes true?
5. What do I currently cook outdoors and what new stuff do I want to cook outdoors?
6. How long do I plan on living in my current home? Am I going to be selling the place in two years?
Your responses to these six questions give us the answers to what appliances you will truly use, the level of appliances you should be looking at, and the minimum amount of space that you will need. This is where you’re going to find the most value for the money you are spending. Everything else will be icing on the cake!
Sure, there are lots of things that still need to be determined or things you may want to fit in. The shape – straight or “L” or “U” or “C”, raised bar top or an open underneath bar top, the location of the sink, which way should the fridge door opens, stone or tile or stucco or weatherproof cabinetry, counter tops, teppanyaki griddles, storage, and don’t forget the Big Green Egg.
Remember, you don’t dream about what you need; you dream about what you want. When creating your outdoor kitchen or outdoor living space you never want to end up saying, “I wish we would’ve…; We should’ve…; We could’ve…”. We wouldn’t want you to settle for less when you know you could have more. This is not a project you settle for, your either all in or potentially disappointed.
Once we get to know you and have a good idea of how you want to live outdoors, we will tell you what we think would work best. If you’re looking at stuff that we don’t think is going to make your cooking experience better or your relationships more meaningful – we’re going to try to talk you out of it. When the planning is said and done we want to hit that magical sweet spot where we know you will be the happiest. I don’t believe we’ve missed that sweet spot yet!

Enjoy Your Outdoor Living Space
Okay, so you’re ready to design your outdoor kitchen. Here are some ideas to get you started in the right direction with your design. What are your entertaining needs? This will help you determine the amount of counter space and size of your grill. How often do you entertain on a regular basis and how many people attend? What type of equipment do you want besides an outdoor grill? Do you want to have beverages kept cold within your arms reach? What about a side burner or pizza oven? What type of configuration are you looking at? Think about how many people you want to be able to accommodate at the bar and if you would prefer an even level or split level island. One very important factor is the placement of your outdoor kitchen. Consider the direction of the wind, amount of sun and location to get inside your home.
